Making a claim when someone has died can be a difficult time, so we want to make the process as quick and as hassle-free as possible. We’re here to guide you through the process and answer any questions you may have.

Step 1 - Contact us

Contact our UK based Claims Team as soon as possible.

You can call directly on 0345 600 6815. We’re open Monday to Thursday from 8:30am - 8:00pm and Friday 8.30am - 5:30pm, except bank holidays. If you’re calling from overseas, please call +44 (0)1737 44 1815. Please note these opening hours are UK local time.  

We’ll ask for some information about the person who has died and you, such as your relationship to the deceased. Please also try and have the policy number to hand.

Step 2 - Getting your claim started

You’ll talk to one of our experienced Claims Assessors and we’ll complete a short claim form for you. We’ll also explain what documents you’ll need to send.

We usually have this conversation over the phone so that we can get started on your claim as soon as possible. But if you’d rather complete a claim form yourself, please let us know and we’ll send one to you.

Step 3 - What happens next?

Please return the information and documents as soon as you can, including the original death certificate and proof of identity. This will allow us to assess the claim and confirm the amount to be paid.

We may need to obtain medical evidence from the deceased’s doctor or the Coroner. We’ll let you know as soon as we can if these reports are required.

Step 4 – Paying the claim

Once we’ve agreed to pay your claim, you should receive the payment within five working days.

Sometimes we agree to pay a claim, but we don’t know who to pay as we’re waiting for a grant of representation (probate) or other information.

If your claim payment is delayed, we may advance payment of up to £10,000 for help towards the cost of a funeral.
