Individual Protection from AIG

Support whilst making a claim

Our aim is to support your clients and their families through difficult times. Our highly experienced team is on hand to guide your clients through the claims process.

Going beyond the claim

We do more than just pay the claim when customers need us most - we also have a range of additional tools to help make these difficult times a little easier to manage. From helping to pay travel costs to and from hospital appointments or for some extra help around the house when someone is seriously ill, to getting a second medical opinion when it really matters – we go beyond the claim.

Our funeral pledge

We know it can sometimes be difficult to find the money to pay for a funeral. If we have agreed in principle to pay a claim when someone has died, but we’re still gathering the paperwork to finalise it, we can help ease this worry.

AIG Life will pay up to £10,000 of your client’s claim in advance towards the costs of a funeral. We can even pay this direct to a funeral company should your client wish us to do so.

Claims Support Fund

Our Claims Support Fund is a discretionary fund which provides your client with up to £300 towards services that can help them and their family cope when they’re dealing with a serious illness. If they’ve made a claim for life, critical illness, terminal illness, children’s critical illness, total permanent disability or total disability, they can use these funds while we’re assessing the claim and processing any paperwork.

The money can help pay for things that will help ease the pressure, such as:

  • Travel and parking costs when visiting hospital for treatment or appointments
  • Wigs, mastectomy bras or bandanas to cover hair loss after cancer treatment
  • Hiring a cleaner after an operation
  • Childcare costs during treatment or recovery
  • Overnight stays in a hotel if the hospital isn’t nearby
  • Physiotherapy appointments
  • Medical alert bracelets, and
  • Vocational courses to help manage a condition in the workplace

There’s no limit to what the Claims Support Fund can help with. And our claims assessors proactively provide access when it’s needed.

This fund is available in addition to your client’s cover, and won’t be deducted from their claim payment. However, if we pay towards these support services, it doesn‘t mean we’ll definitely approve a claim.

Best Doctors – the second medical opinion service

If your client or a member of their family is diagnosed with a serious illness, we know that they’ll have many questions and will be looking for clear, reliable answers. A second opinion could prove to be invaluable.

Through our partnership with Best Doctors®, your client and their immediate family will be able to get a second opinion and recommendations for treatment from world-renowned medical experts – at any time while they have insurance with us. This will provide the necessary information to help make the best decision for them.

Best Doctors can help with a vast range of pre-existing or new medical issues, from migraines to more serious conditions like cancer or heart disease. It doesn’t have to relate to a claim and the service is entirely confidential and independent from AIG.

If your client has a critical illness policy, they’ll still be able to use the Best Doctors service for three years following a claim. This will help with important follow-up support to manage and live with the after-effects of treatment. This extended access is only available to the person covered by the claim, not to family members.

Best Doctors is a non-contractual benefit and can be withdrawn at any time without notice. Best Doctors and the star-in-cross logo are registered trademarks of Best Doctors, inc. in the United States and other countries. Used with permission.
